No-harm calibration for generalized Oaxaca–Blinder estimators

چکیده

Summary In randomized experiments, adjusting for observed features when estimating treatment effects has been proposed as a way to improve asymptotic efficiency. However, among parametric methods, only linear regression proven form an estimate of the average effect that is asymptotically no less efficient than treated-minus-control difference in means regardless true data generating process. Randomized assignment provides this do-no-harm property, with neither truth model nor generative outcomes being required. We present general calibration method confers same no-harm property onto estimators leveraging broad class nonlinear models. This recovers usual regression-adjusted estimator ordinary least squares used, and further noninferior using methods such logistic Poisson regression. The resulting are both difference-in-means have not undergone calibration. show our equivalent inverse-probability-weighted logit link predicted potential covariates. simulation study, we demonstrate common without procedure may perform markedly worse calibrated unadjusted means.

Generalized Family of Estimators for Imputing Scrambled Responses

When there is a high correlation between the study and the  auxiliary variables, the rank of the auxiliary variable also correlates with the study variable. Then, the use of the rank as an additional auxiliary variable may be helpful to increase the efficiency of the estimator of the mean or total of the population.   In the present study, we propose two  generalized familie...

The Calibration for Stratified Randomized Response Estimators

In this paper, we propose the calibration procedure for the variance reduction of the stratified Warner’s randomized response estimators, which suggested by Hong et al. (1994) and Kim and Warde (2004), using auxiliary information at the population level. It is shown that the proposed calibration estimators are more efficient than the ordinary Warner’s estimators.

First, do no harm

Conservation agencies charged with care of threatened plant species should be governed by the concepts that conservation actions should do no harm. Adaptive management research progresses in imperfect situations due to incomplete knowledge. Interpreting new experimental or observational evidence for inclusion in conservation plans should first consider the big picture by identifying collateral ...

First, do no harm.

Early this summer a healthy 62-year-old man with a history of colorectal cancer came to see me for his periodic health examination. In an effort to embrace patient-centred, evidence-informed decision making, much of these visits with healthy men 50 and older in my practice seems to be taken up with discussing the risks and benefits of screening for prostate cancer with a prostate-specific antig...
